Christ The King

Christ was a great King in heaven, but when he came to earth, he assumed a disguise and went about as a poor carpenter's son from Nazareth. For 30 years he attracted no attention to himself, but worked in the family business and helped out at home. He only spent 3 years in public ministry, healing and teaching many people. For his efforts, he was tortured and executed as a common criminal.
In every "Our Father" we pray, "thy kingdom come." That means that there is a place in this universe where it is possible that Christ does not reign as king yet-and that place is your heart. So often, Christ comes to us in much the same way as he did so long ago in Israel-in disguise. If he came in splendor like the Son of God, who wouldn't open the doors for him, who wouldn't welcome him immediately? Instead, he comes in various hidden ways.
For example, when we are tempted to watch an inappropriate TV show or internet site, Christ the King is there– waiting for us to choose him that he might reign in that situation. When we are ill and may think God has abandoned us, Christ the King is there too, waiting to remind us of his suffering and of his love. When we give to charity or our Church, Christ the King is there in all the people we assist. And on our last day, Christ the King will already be present in those hearts that made room for him while on earth.
